Walt is Running!
Walt Minnick trains for the Boston Marathon to promote preventive healthcare.
Walt Minnick is running, literally, for Congress in the 1st District of Idaho. Minnick announced an ambitious training schedule that kicks off with the Les Bois 10k on Saturday March 8 and culminates in the granddaddy of all races, the Boston Marathon. Minnick will be the honorary starter of the Les Bois 10k. The race kicks off at 9:00am at Fort Boise. After the race, Minnick will be on hand to discuss healthcare and preventive health.
Minnick noted, “Healthcare is a top priority. While my goal is to bring universal health insurance to Idaho, I also want to encourage Idahoans to engage in preventive health practices- the ultimate form of health insurance.”
Preventive health is a matter of making small decisions to take positive action on health, diet, exercise and lifestyle. Given that roughly 40% of Idahoans don’t have health insurance, practicing preventive health is not only one of the most effective measures to combat sickness and disease, but to prevent it.
Minnick added, “Over the last six weeks I’ve traveled to every county in the district. As grueling as campaigning is, it’s just going to get tougher in the general election when we’re up against Bill Sali and all of the out-of-state right-wing money that will be funneled into his bid for reelection. I need to be in tip-top shape in order to win this election. I try to eat as healthy as possible and I’m up at five in the morning almost every day to run. It’s a great way to start the day and focus on the work ahead of us that needs to be done.”
